Remember the old adage: it isn't a series until the road team wins a game? Well we have got ourselves a series in the ALDS matchup between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians. After a rainout on Thursday, the Guardians bounced back from a game one loss with a 4-2 win in 10-innings to knot the series at a game apiece. The series shifts to Cleveland on Saturday and Sunday and Saturday's pitching matchup will be Yankees righty Luis Severino (7-3, 3.18) taking on Guardians righty Triston Mckenzie (11-11, 2.96). Game time is set for 7:37pm EST.

One thing is certain as the playoffs shift to Cleveland for games three and four this weekend; this Yankee lineup is not the one that was tearing up baseball through July this season. The Yankees won game one despite getting just five hits thanks to a stellar pitching performance by Gerrit Cole and a three-run blast by Anthony Rizzo. In game two, the Yankees got another blast, a two-run homer by Giancarlo Stanton to the short porch in right in the first inning, but that would be all for the rest of the game. The Yankees had just six hits and were shut out over the final nine innings as the Guardians crawled back in the game and took it in 10-innings. The Yankees now must win at least one in Cleveland if they hope to get back to the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees lineup is now hitting .180 in the first two games of the series and have struck out 22 times. The Bombers are struggling and the sure-fire AL MVP Aaron Judge is the most notable struggling Yankee. Judge is 0-8 with 7 strikeouts and just one ball put in play in the series thus far. Without the like of DJ LeMahieu and Matt Carpenter in the everyday lineup, the Yankees are struggling to get protection around their star slugger. On the mound in the critical game three for New York will be Luis Severino. Severino has pitched very well since coming off the 60-day IL in September with a 1.69 ERA and two wins. He has, however, only thrown 16 innings in the three starts and this could mean another long night for the Yankees' pen. Severino is 1-3 lifetime in the playoffs with a 5.13 ERA.
