New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-2-2022

New York ran their win streak to six games as they took care of Miami on the road Sunday afternoon. The Mets entered Monday holding a three-game advantage on the Braves for the top spot in the NL East race. On Sunday, New York rapped out 19 hits with seven players having at least two in the victory. Francisco Lindor (run, RBI), Jeff McNeil (run, RBI) and Mark Canha (two runs, two RBI) each had three hits to lead the way. Taijuan Walker (9-2) earned the win on the mound as he allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 5.2 innings before turning the ball over to the bullpen.

Jacob deGrom is in line to make his season debut for the Mets after suffering a shoulder injury during spring training. He made 15 starts last season, going 7-2 with a 1.08 ERA, a 0.554 WHIP, 11 walks and 146 strikeouts over 92 innings of work though his season came to an end on July 7, 2021. In the m inors this season, deGrom was 0-1 with a 2.84 ERA, a 0.868 WHIP, five walks and 21 strikeouts over 12.2 innings with St. Lucie of the Class-A Florida State League and Syracuse of the Triple-A International League. This marks deGrom’s 22nd career start against the Nationals. He is 9-4 with a 2.44 WHIP, a 1.00 WHIP, 35 walks and 175 strikeouts over 133 innings of work against them. At Nationals Park, deGrom has gone 7-1 with a 2.80 ERA, a 1.047 WHIP, 17 walks and 88 strikeouts over 70.2 innings in 11 career starts at Nationals Park.
