The New York Knicks (13-10, 11-10-2 ATS) lost to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, 117-113. That was the third straight road loss for the team as they dropped to 6-7 away from New York City (6-6-1 ATS). They play the Phoenix Suns in Arizona on Friday, but this preview was written prior to the conclusion of that contest.
The Knicks took a nine-point lead after one quarter, only to see the Jazz battle back in the second to take the lead for good. A tough day from three-point range (9-29) proved to be the difference as Utah hit 16 of 42 three-point attempts and had seven more rebounds than New York.
“That was sort of like the story of the game. You’re going to have nights like that, and I thought we created a lot of good shots,” New York coach Tom Thibodeau said after watc hing his team shoot 9 of 39 from 3-point range.
Julius Randle had 32 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Randle has been averaging 26.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game over his last 10 contests. He is also shooting 55.1% from the floor in that span.
The Knicks are not a very good shooting team, 24th in field goal percentage (45.6%), but are seventh in rebounding (45.8 per game). Defensively they are holding opponents to 86 shots per game, sixth overall, but opponents are hitting 47.4% of their attempts.
