The New York Knicks pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past five games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Grizzlies in a 127-123 loss on Sunday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 30 points and nine assists, RJ Barrett added 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Mitchell Robinson added 16 points with five blocks while Julius Randle chipped in with 14 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 30 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Grizzlies until the third quarter where they leaked 39 points to fall behind by double digits. The Knicks exploded for 40 points in the fourth quarter to make it interesting, but they couldn’t get over the hump as they got next to no support from their bench players.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a slump as they’ve lost 17 of their first 22 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting beaten by the Cavaliers in a 102-94 loss on Sunday. Marvin Bagley led the team with 19 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, Alec Burks added 17 points off the bench while Killian Hayes chipped in with 16 points and eight assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 45 percent from the field and eight of 28 from the 3-point line as they held the Cavaliers to just 20 points in the first quarter to lead for most of the contest, but they couldn’t find their offense when they needed it most as they scored just 16 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Cavaliers to run them down in the end.
