New York believed it was only a competent quarterback away from a deep postseason run last season, prompting the franchise to trade for future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers in the off-season. Unfortunately, the move was disastrous, as the 39-year-old suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on the first drive in week one. Now, New York must move to plan B: Zach Wilson.
The Jets' 2021 first-round pick struggled as the face of the franchise, completing 55.6 percent of his passing attempts with a 9:11 TD:INT rate in his rookie year and 54.5 percent of his passes with a 6:7 TD:INT rate in 2022. The overtime victory was cathartic for Jets fans, who watched their season seemingly end shortly after it started, but it will likely be one of few victories for Gang Green in the 2023-24 season.
