New York Jets 2022 futures: Super Bowl odds, win total picks, best bets, schedule and more

Two statements are true about the 2022 New York Jets: Their roster is definitely improved over what they had last year in quarterback Zach Wilson's rookie season. They also still have a long way to go.'

Despite adding impact players on both sides of the ball in the draft (running back Breece Hall, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, cornerback Sauce Gardner) and in free agency (tight end C.J. Uzomah, safety Jordan Whitehead, OT Laken Tomlinson, CB D.J. Reed), this is still a team with more questions than answers. Some of those questions revolve around the team's QB, who is seemingly more popular for his dating antics than his on-field play. For New York's AFC team to take a step forward, Wilson has to take a noticeable second year leap. If not, some Jets fans will be calling on the team to draft his replacement next April.

In all likelihood, even if the team starts off well, they won't come out of a midseason gauntlet (Cincinnati, at Pittsburgh, Miami, at Green Bay, at Denver, New England, Buffalo, at New England) mostly unscathed. While New York faces only one 2021 playoff team from Week 12 on, it might be too late for them to make a playoff run. In all likelihood, the end-of-season slate will be a proving ground for the team's QB and skill position players. 2023 is the year the Jets must contend for a playoff spot and if not, coach Robert Saleh might not be employed into 2024.

The late season schedule is a reason to think the Jets might be able to hit their ceiling of six or seven wins. It 's possible they're 2-8 heading into a home game against Chicago in Week 12 where things could turn around. At -175, there's little value on the over 5.5 wins so the wise play would be to play the under (+150) or skip betting on this team at all.
