New York Giants vs. New York Jets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-28-2022

This Sunday the (2-0) New York Giants and the (2-0) New York Jets will play their third and final 2022 NFL preseason game. The Kickoff will be at 1:00 PM EST inside MetLife Stadium. These two teams are very familiar with one another, as both teams will be using this game to prepare for the start of the 2022 NFL season.

The New York Giants haven't announced if they will play any starters in this game, but I would expect most of them to play the first few possessions. Daniel Jones played last week, as I am expecting to see all three quarterbacks play again in this one. Watch for them to limit Barkley, though. He was banged up last season and they won't want to risk injury with him before the season even starts.

Robert Saleh, the New York Jets head coach announced that he will be playing his starters to begin this game. He will use this final preseason game as a “dress rehearsal”. They will still be without Zach Wilson, though. Joe Flacco will get the start in this one.

The New York Giants had an impressive win in the second week of the preseason, as their back-ups brought them back to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals. Brian Daboll does seem to care about these preseason games, though. According to Walterfootball.com, he is now 2-0 to begin his career, as I see him wanting the finish the preseason strong in this one. The Giant's offense was also slinging the ball around the yard against the Bengals last week. They finished with 423 total yards of offense and 356 of them were through the air. All three of the Giant's quarterbacks showed up, as they all continued to attack the Bengals through the air. Daniel Jones threw for 116 yards, but Davis Webb went 22/27 with 204 yards and 2 touchdowns to bring his team back late in this game. I would also expect to see Tyrod Taylor in this one, as all three of their QBs looked solid last week. The Giants also had 67 rushing yards, as they continued to show that t hey were going to keep the Bengals on their toes with their play calling. They also went 2/3 inside the red zone but committed two turnovers. They have to take care of the ball if they want to avoid dropping this final preseason game to the Jets. I would also watch for Alex Bachman, as he had an incredible game in week two. He caught 11 catches for 122 yards and had two touchdowns. He and Webb had a connection!

On the defensive side of the ball, the Giants got lit up early in the game. Luckily their backups locked up the Bengals in the second half, as they kept their team in that game. The Giants did give up 271 total yards of offense, though. They struggled to defend the pass, as their secondary continued to get burned early in this game. They gave up 202 passing yards, as the Bengals backups showed that you could beat the Giants through the air. The New York football Giants also need to cut down on their penalties. They committed seven for 75 yards last week , as they can't expect to win these games if they are gifting their opponents this many free yards. The Giants also had one fumble recovery, as they continued to hit hard throughout last week's game. I wouldn't expect to see many defensive starters play deep into this game, as Kayvon Thibodeaux was hurt earlier in the preseason.
