The New Orleans Privateers and Northwestern State Demons face off on Tuesday in a college basketball showdown in the Southland Tournament at the Legacy Center. When these two teams faced off on February 18th, it was New Orleans that secured the 68-65 victory.
New Orleans comes into this game with a 12-19 record overall, but they are only a couple of wins away from making the NCAA tournament. On Monday they faced off against the third seed Southeastern Louisiana and they were able to secure the 82-78 victory. Jordan Johnson put up 32 points, two rebounds, and one assist. New Orleans is averaging 73.2 points while their defense is giving up 79.4 points per game. Jordan Johnson has been the top player for New Orleans averaging 18.1 points while shooting 46 percent from the field and 48.6 percent from behind the three point line.
On the other side of this matchup is Northwestern State who sits with a 21-10 record overall and they are coming off a win last Wednesday. Northwestern State scored 81 points against Incarnate Word and that was enough to secure the 17 point victory. Jalen Hampton finished with 20 points and nine rebounds. Northwestern State is averaging 74.8 points while their defense is giving up 72 points per game. They want to push the pace, and there is no doubt they are going to try and push the pace here. Demarcus Sharp is averaging 18.7 points while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 56 percent from behind the three point line.
