We kick off week 16 of the NFL schedule with a clash of old NFC West rivals on the gridiron in the City of Angels. The New Orleans Saints are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football. New Orleans comes in off a 24-6 home win over the Giants Sunday in their previous contest, covering the line as a 6.5-point favorite. Los Angeles dropped Washington 28-20 at home Sunday in their previous game, covering the line as a 6.5-point underdog. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Rams own a 42-34 advantage but it was the Saints picking up a 27-20 home win in the most recent matchup on November 20, 2022.

New Orleans won their second straight game as they pulled away from the Giants in the second half to earn the home victory. The Saints improved to 7-7 on the season and are tied with Tampa Bay for the top spot in the NFC South though the Buccaneers have the division lead based on a better division record (3-1 to 2-2) entering this week. They were eighth in the NFC playoff picture as they lose the tie-breaker based on conference record to the Rams. Against New York, New Orleans trailed 3-0 after the opening quarter, led 7-6 at the half and then outscored the Giants 17-0 in the second half to earn the win. The Saints held a 296-193 advantage in total offense, picked up 20 first downs while allowing 12 and owned a 33:27 to 26:33 edge in time of possession in the game. Neither side committed a turnover.

On the season, the Saints stand 16th in the league in passing offense with 231.3 yards per contest while they are 19th in rushing offense with 103.2 yards per game. New Orleans is 12th in the league in scoring offense with 22.1 points per contest while they are 6th in the league in scoring defense by allowing an average of 19.1 points a game. Derek Carr is 302 of 448 passing for 3,098 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has been sacked 26 times. Taysom Hill is five of nine for 72 yards plus a score and is second on the team with 347 yards plus four scores on 71 carries. Jameis Winston is 25 of 47 for 264 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in his action. Jamaal Williams has 71 carries for 214 yards while Alvin Kamara (161 carries, 630 yards, five TD), Tony Jones Jr. (21 carries, 70 yards, two TD) and Kendre Miller (28 carries, 83 yards) have seen work on the ground as well. Chris Olave leads the team with 72 receptions for 918 yards and four touchdowns this season. Michael Thomas (39 catches, 448 yards, TD), Rashid Shaheed (36 grabs, 570 yards, three TD), Kamara (68 receptions, 446 yards, TD), Hill (27 grabs, 233 yards, TD) and tight end Juwan Johnson (22 receptions, 190 yards, three TD) are solid targets. Blake Grupe is 30 of 30 on extra point attempts and 25 of 32 on field goal attempts with a long of 55 on the year.

New Orleans didn’t practice on Monday but the injury report based on estimation showed several key injury issues. Defensive end Isaiah Foskey (quad), running back Kendre Miller (ankle), wide receiver Chris Olave (ankle), safety Lonnie Johnson (knee) and tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee) were each marked as did not practice. Defensive ends Cameron Jordan (ankle), Carl Granderson (shoulder) and Payton Turner (toe) were each marked as limited. Watch for any further information as we get closer to kickoff.
