New Orleans Pelicans vs. Portland Trail Blazers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-1-2023

New Orleans Pelicans (30-32) vs. Portland Trail Blazers (29-31)

The NBA betting action goes on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, with the New Orleans Pelicans facing off against the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference battle at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.

New Orleans and Portland lock horns for the second time this season. Back in November, the Trail Blazers upset the Pelicans 106-95 as 10-point road underdogs. Portland opens as a 2-point home fave this time around, and the totals sit at 232.0 points.

The New Orleans Pelicans (30-32; 28-33-1 ATS) are on a four-game losing streak following Monday’s 101-93 home loss to the Orlando Magic. After three road defeats at the Los Angeles Lakers 120-102, Toronto Raptors 115-110, and New York Knicks 128-106, the Pels struggled as 5-point home favorites, trailing the Magic for most of the night.

New Orleans outlasted Orlando 24-14 in the second quarter but scored just 19 points in the fourth. The Pelicans went just 6-for-27 from downtown and committed 17 turnovers while handing out 23 assists. Only three players scored in double digits, and Brandon Ingram led the way with 25 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

The Pels are without Zion Williamson, who hasn’t played since January 2 and will miss a few more weeks. Larry Nance Jr. (7.7 PPG, 5.9 RPG this season) sat out the Magic game due to an ankle injury, making the Pels’ frontcourt pretty thin. He’s questionable to play Wednesday.

New Orleans has dropped five of its last six games overall, shooting just 29.0% from deep and making 8.7 triples a night. The Pelicans rank 20th in the league in adjusted offensive efficiency (113.7 points per 100 possessions) and 27th in 3-point attempt rate.
