New Orleans Pelicans vs. Denver Nuggets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-31-2023

New Orleans Pelicans (26-25) vs. Denver Nuggets (34-16)

The NBA betting action goes on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, with the Western Conference showdown from Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, where the New Orleans Pelicans take on the Denver Nuggets with the tip-off at 10:00 PM ET.

After splitting their first two encounters in 2022-23, the Pelicans and Nuggets continue their four-game regular-season series. New Orleans misses Zion Williamson (hamstring) and Dyson Daniels (ankle), whereas Denver is coming in at full strength.

The New Orleans Pelicans (26-25; 24-27 ATS) are on an eight-game losing streak following Sunday’s 135-110 defeat at the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pels couldn’t cope with Giannis Antetokounmpo, who dropped 50 points on 20-for-26 shooting from the field. New Orleans trailed Milwaukee from start to finish, making 44.1% of its field goals (13-for-34 from deep) and 71.4% of its free throws (15-for-21).

The Pelicans were quite shorthanded at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Both CJ McCollum (thumb) and Brandon Ingram (toe) sat out the Bucks clash and are questionable to play against the Nuggets. Jose Alvarado scored 18 points versus Milwaukee, while Trey Murphy III and Jonas Valanciunas accounted for 16 points apiece.

“I thought our effort was there,” Pelicans coach W illie Green said. “I thought we fought. It just wasn't enough tonight.”

Zion Williamson suffered his injury in a 120-111 defeat at the Philadelphia 76ers on January 2. Since then, the Pels have struggled a lot, going 3-11 SU and 5-9 ATS in the process. They stumbled in the Western Conference standings and are tied with Dallas and Phoenix for the No. 7 seed at the moment.
