The New Orleans Pelicans and the Memphis Grizzlies do battle at the FedExForum on Friday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been in great shape as they’ve won five of their last six games overall and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after making light work of the Spurs in a 129-110 road win on Wednesday. Zion Williamson led the team with 32 points and 11 assists on 14 of 18 shooting, Jonas Valanciunas added 22 points on nine of 11 shooting while Devonte Graham drained six 3-pointers to finish with 21 points off the bench. As a team, the Pelicans shot 57 percent from the field and 14 of 33 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half by 66-47 and never look threatened in a game where they led by as many as 27 points at one stage.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be eager to snap a two-game skid after falling just short to the Kings in a 113-109 loss on Tuesday. Ja Morant led the team with 34 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 22 points with five blocks while Dillon Brooks chipped in with 14 points and five assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 45 percent from the field and eight of 30 from the 3-point line as they struggled on defense and allowed 36 points in the second quarter to fall behind going into halftime, and things only got worse in the third quarter where they scored just 17 points to fall behind by 14 points which proved to be just enough in the end.
