The New Orleans Pelicans and the Charlotte Hornets collide at the Spectrum Center on Friday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans will be eager to start their season with a second straight victory after making light work of the Nets in a 130-108 road win on Wednesday night. Brandon Ingram led the team in scoring with 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Zion Williamson added 25 points with nine rebounds and four steals in his first game back while CJ McCollum chipped in with 21 points and six assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 26 from the 3-point line, but this win was set up by their effort on the defensive end as they held the Nets to just 14 points in the first quarter, before exploding for 40 points in the third quarter to make it a blowout in the end.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets will also be gunning for their second win of the season after blowing past the Spurs in a 129-102 road win on Wednesday. Terry Rozier led the team with 24 points, six rebounds and six assists, Gordon Hayward added 20 points on six of 11 shooting, Nick Richards added 19 points and 10 rebounds off the bench while PJ Washington chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 51 percent from the field and 13 of 29 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Spurs right from the start, pouring in 38 points in the first quarter to take the early double-digit lead which only grew as the game wore on.
