New Mexico State at St. Mary's – 12/14/22 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The New Mexico State Aggies will head to Moraga and face the St. Mary’s Gaels in non-conference action from The Pavilion on the WCC. NMSU and Saint Mary's have faced off seven times since the year 2000, with Gaels holding a 6-1 series lead.

New Mexico State is 5-3 after defeating Duquense in Pittsburgh. The Aggies made the cross-country trip and outscored the Dukes in both halves en route to a 13-point win. NMSU scores 79.1 points per game, while allowing 64.2 ppg, while shooting 46.1% from the floor.

The Aggies brief but impactful tournament run was admirable last season, but there’s been a few growing pains to life without star scorer Teddy Allen. The transfer portal has eased that loss, and landing four-year starter Xavier Pinson has proved to be huge. The longtime Mizzou guard scored 25 points in the win over USD, and he’s leading the Aggies in scoring (13.6), while dishing out 5.1 apg. Former RMU guard Deshawndre Washington has been pretty useful in his first year in Las Cruces. The 6’7 senior triple-doubled in his debut, and he leads the team in minutes while posting a nice line of 13.5 ppg, 8.1 rpg, and 5.5 apg.
