The Devils are off to a remarkable start to the season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.75 goals per game with 16 goals in the last four games. Jesper Bratt, Jack Hughes, and Nico Hischier have scored 31 goals and 81 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also been great. Tomas Tatar, Yegor Sharangovich, and Dawson Mercer have combined for 19 goals and 24 assists while defenseman Dougie Hamilton is adding six goals and 10 assists from the point to open up the offense.
The offense has been dominant but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.29 goals per game. Jonas Seigenthaler and Ryan Graves have combined for 4.6 defensive point shares and 72 blocked shots while John Marino, Dougie Hamilton, and Damon Severson have combined for 4.5 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Vitek Vanecek has stepped up in the net wi th a .918 save percentage and a 2.24 goals-against average on 401 shots.
