The New Jersey Devils face the Edmonton Oilers with both teams looking to improve from slow starts to the season. The Devils have a 14-10-1 record but with three wins in a row, they have leaped to the top of the Metropolitan Division. The Oilers have an 11-12-1 record and with six wins in a row, they have leaped to fifth place in the Pacific Division. Both teams look to build off hot streaks and leap to the top of their divisions and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Devils have turned their season around with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.63 goals per game with 12 goals in the last three games. Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and Tyler Toffoli have scored 32 goals and 51 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Erik Haula, Ondrej Palat, and Alexander Holtz have combined for 18 goals and 18 assists while defensemen Luke Hughes and John Marino have added five goals and 21 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense continues to hurt the Devils, allowing 3.67 goals per game. John Marino and Jonas Seigenthaler have combined for 1.7 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Akira Schmid has struggled with a .902 save percentage and a 3.03 goals-against averag e on 295 shots with -0.5 goals saved above average.
