The New Jersey Devils face the Buffalo Sabres with both teams heading in opposite directions to close out the season. The Devils have a 45-18-8 record and are in second place in the Metropolitan Division. The Sabres have a 33-31-6 record and with four losses in a row, they have fallen to sixth place in the Atlantic Division and out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. Both teams look to improve in the conference and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

The Devils are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.45 goals per game. Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Jesper Bratt have scored 97 goals and 115 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Dawson Mercer, Tomas Tatar, and Erik Haula have combined for 46 goals and 77 assists while defenseman Dougie Hamilton has added 18 goals and 48 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.66 goals per game with only four goals in the last two games. Jonas Seigenthaler and Ryan Graves have combined for 9.6 defensive point shares and 266 blocked shots while Dougie Hamilton, Damon Severson, and John Marino have combined for 11.0 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Vitek Vanecek has been great with a .909 save percentage and a 2.49 goals-against average on 1156 shots with 5.6 goals saved above average.
