The New Jersey Devils are on the road as they travel to take on the Boston Bruins Monday afternoon. New Jersey comes in off a 4-1 road victory in their previous contest as they downed the Panthers down in the Sunshine State. Boston edged St. Louis 4-3 in overtime on the road Saturday night in their previous game. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Bruins own a commanding 8-0-2 advantage, including a 5-2 home victory in the most recent matchup back on December 30, 2023. New Jersey snapped a two-game slide as they took down Florida on the road in their previous contest Saturday. The Devils improved to 22-15-3 on the season and stand fifth, seven points behind the Rangers for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division standings. They were five points behind the Flyers for the final guaranteed playoff spot and one point back of the Islanders for the second wild card spot. On the year, New Jersey is tied for 4th in scoring as they average 3.55 goals per game on the season. The Devils are 28th in goals against as they allow 3.50 goals per contest. New Jersey is 4th in power play success as they have cashed in 27.9% of their chances with the man advantage on the year. The Devils are 23rd in penalty killing as they successfully navigate through 77.2% of their shorthanded situations on the season.

Against Florida, New Jersey got some offensive pop and quality goaltending, helping them pick up the road victory. In the opening period, the Devils held a 12-8 edge in shots on goal and skated off with a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of play. Alexander Holtz opened the scoring with his 10th goal of the season at 3:50 off assists from Simon Nemec and Curtis Lazar. Jesper Bratt made it a 2-0 game with his 16th goal of the year at 14:45 with an assist going to Michael McLeod. The Devils were outshot 13-5 in the second period with both teams scoring once, leaving them up 3-1 at the second intermission. Erik Haula extended to a 3-0 advantage with his 10th goal of the year off an assist from Nico Hischier at the 3:51 mark. They gave up a goal later in the stanza to narrow the lead to a pair. In the third period, New Jersey was outshot 16-5 but scored the lone goal to put the game away. John Marino hit the empty net fo r his second goal of the season at 19:41, unassisted, to close the scoring. Nico Daws made 36 saves for the Devils, who were outshot 37-22, in the victory. Vitek Vanacek is expected between the pipes for this contest.
