The New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres face off on Friday in an NHL showdown at the KeyBank Center. When these two teams faced off in April it was the Sabres that secured the 5-2 victory.
The Devils sit with a 16-4-0 record and away from home they have gone 8-1-0. In the last game though, the offense could only manage one goal and that led to the 2-1 victory. Dougie Hamilton finished the game with seven shots on goal and one goal. The Devils are averaging 3.7 goals per game while their defense is giving up 2.3 goals per game. Jesper Bratt has been the top player for the Devils scoring six goals and adding 16 assists. In this game the Devils need the defense to be good.
On the other side of this matchup is Buffalo who sits with a 9-11-0 record and at home this season they have gone 5-6-0. In the last game against the St. Louis Blues, the Sabres were able to secure a 6-2 victory. Jack Quinn and Jeff Skinner both finished the game with two goals. Buffalo is averaging 3.76 goals while their defense is giving up 3.5 goals per game. The offense is ranked 3rd, but the defense is ranked 24th. Tage Thompson has scored 13 goals and added 13 assists so far this season. In this game, it’s going to need to be the offense that puts the pressure on the Devils defense.
