Nevada Wolf Pack (14-3) vs. San Diego State Aztecs (12-3)

Week 10 of the 2022-23 college basketball season is upon us, and the Nevada Wolf Pack head to San Diego, California, on Tuesday night to square off against the San Diego State Aztecs in the Mountain West Conference battle at Viejas Arena.   

The tip-off is set for 11:00 PM ET, and the Aztecs open as firm 9-point home favorites with a total of 137.5 points. The Aztecs search for their ninth straight victory over the Wolf Pack, so let’s take a closer look. 

The Nevada Wolf Pack improved to 14-3 SU and 11-4-1 on the season following Saturday’s 67-40 thrashing of the San Jose State Spartans. Playing as small 2-point road dogs, the Wolf Pack completely shut down the Spartans, who haven’t scored a single point in the final 10:41 of the first half. Nevada forced a thumping 21 turnovers and shot 41.5% from the field while posting 14 offensive rebounds. 

Freshman forward Nick Davidson had 15 points and nine rebounds against the Spartans. Senior guard Jarod Lucas notched 12 points and three boards, while fellow senior G Kenan Blackshear posted a line of 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Lucas is now tallying 17.0 points per game, and Blackshear is adding 14.1 points, 4.8 boards, and 4.8 assists a night. 

The Wolf Pack are undefeated in six straight outings and boast a 4-0 record in the conference play. They score 108.8 points per 100 possessions (59th in the country) and allow 95.9 points in return (61st). The Wolf Pack’s defense ranks 38th in the country in field goal percentage (39.7%) and 120th in 3-point percentage (31.8%). Nevada is No. 29 in the NCAA NET Rankings, while KenPom has the Wolf Pack at No. 60.
