Nevada Wolf Pack (21-7) vs. Fresno State Bulldogs (10-17)

The 2022-23 college hoops season goes on Friday, February 24, with the Nevada Wolf Pack facing off against the Fresno State Bulldogs in the Mountain West Conference showdown at Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

The Wolf Pack and Bulldogs lock horns for the second time this season. A couple of weeks ago, Nevada beat Fresno State 77-66 as a 9-point home fave with a total of 132.5 points. The Wolf Pack are 3.5-point road favorites this time around, while the totals sit at 129.0 points.

After stopping their four-game winning streak with a 75-66 defeat at Utah State this past weekend, the Nevada Wolf Pack returned to winning ways last Tuesday, defeating San Jose State 66-51 on the home court. The Wolf Pack pulled away in the final six minutes of the second half to cover a 9-point spread with ease, and Nevada held SJSU to 36.4% shooting from the field.

Junior center Will Baker dropped 18 points on the Spartans, while freshman forward Darrion Williams had 14 points, five rebounds, and a couple of assists and steals. The Wolf Pack shot 46.2% from the field (6-for-16 from deep) and posted an excellent 15/5 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Senior guard Jarod Lucas is Nevada’s leading scorer with 16.8 points per game, but he’s only made four of his 19 field-goal attempts over the last two games. Will Baker has been terrific of late and is averaging 14.2 points and 5.3 rebounds on the season, while senior guard Kenan Blackshear tallies 14.7 points and 4.7 assists per contest.

Nevada is No. 32 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 33 in the KenPom rankings. The Wolf Pack score 73.3 points per game in the conference play (3rd in the MWC) on 52.3% shooting from inside the arc (8th) and 36.4% from beyond the 3-point line (5th). They make 15.9 free throws a night (1st) on an 81.0 percentage clip. On the other side of the ball, Nevada’s defense ranks fourth in the MWC in points allowed per game (67.9), eighth in 2-point percentage (53.2%), and fifth in 3-point percentage (34.1%).
