Nebraska vs. Rutgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-14-2023

Nebraska will try to build on its overtime win against Wisconsin when it travels to Rutgers on Tuesday night. The Cornhuskers have won two of their last three games, but they are still two games below the .500 mark. Rutgers is returning home following back-to-back road losses at Indiana and Illinois.

Nebraska lost four straight conference games at the end of January, falling to 3-9 in Big Ten play at that point. The Cornhuskers have turned things around by winning two of their last three games, beating Penn State and Wisconsin. Their loss came in between those victories on the road against Michigan, so they have still not won a road game since beating Minnesota on Jan. 7. Nebraska trailed Wisconsin by 17 points early in the second half on Saturday, but it was able to erase that deficit and eventually pick up the win in overtime. The Cornhuskers will be returning home for three straight games following this contest.

Their strength on the offensive end has been in the paint, where they rank No. 85 of 363 Division I teams in 2-point percentage (52.3). They are struggling from beyond the arc, ranked No. 290 in 3-point percentage (31.7)—they are also shooting less than 63% from the free-throw line, putting them in the bottom 10 nationally in that statistic. Nebraska is facing a Rutgers defense that ranks second in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. Senior forward Derrick Walker leads Nebraska with 13.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Junior guard Keisei Tominaga (12.0) and senior guard Sam Griesel (11.3) are both in double figures as well.
