The Nebraska Cornhuskers are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers Saturday afternoon. Nebraska was knocked off 74-56 on the road by Michigan State in their previous contest Tuesday night, failing to cover as a seven-point underdog. Minnesota was beaten 63-60 on the road by #14 Wisconsin in their previous game Tuesday night though they did cover the line as a 13-point underdog. In the all-time series between the schools, the Golden Gophers own a 21-17 advantage but Nebraska has won the last two meetings. That includes a 78-65 victory at home in the most recent matchup on February 9, 2022.

Nebraska saw their two-game win streak snapped as they were beaten soundly by Michigan State on the road in their most recent game. The Cornhuskers fell to 8-7 overall on the season and are just 1-3 in Big Ten play this season. Against Michigan State, Nebraska was even with 12:47 to play in the first half before getting blitzed to the tune of a 28-6 run to trail 39-17 at intermission. The Cornhuskers drew within 12 with 8:46 to go in the game but gave up a 10-0 run over the next four-plus minutes to trail 68-46. You could turn the lights out on Nebraska at that point. Nebraska shot 41.8% from the field, including two of 16 from three-point range, and bricked 12 of their 20 free throw attempts in the game. Derrick Walker led the way with 15 points and nine boards in the loss.

The Cornhuskers put up an average of 67.3 points per game this season, putting them 298th in the nation in scoring offense. Nebraska pulls down 38.1 rebounds a night while dishing out an average of 13.5 assists per contest. The Cornhuskers have been solid on the defensive end, ranking 95th in the nation by holding opponents to 65.4 points per game. Derrick Walker leads the team with 13.7 points plus 8.2 rebounds per contest. Sam Griesel (10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists) and Keisei Tominaga (10 points) each average in double figures as well. C.J. Wilcher, Emmanuel Bandoumel, Juwan Gary, Wilhelm Breidenbach, Blaise Keita and Denim Dawson are other important rotation pieces for coach Fred Hoiberg. Nebraska is shooting 44% from the field and knocks down 6.3 three-pointers a night while shooting 29.3% from beyond the arc.
