The Nebraska Cornhuskers head into Michigan State off of a critical home conference win over Iowa. The win improved Nebraska to 1-2 in conference play this season and was the second straight win for the Cornhuskers. Juwan Gary led the way with 14 points and nine rebounds as the Cornhuskers rolled to a 66-50 over Iowa on Thursday night. The story of the night was the Nebraska defense, however. Iowa came into the game as the leading scoring team in the Big Ten and were held to 26 percent shooting and 33 points below their scoring average. They out-rebounded Iowa 54-40 in a dominant performance that included a 20-0 Nebraska run in the first half. Sam Griesel contributed a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds in support of Gary's near double-double.

Nebraska, not surprisingly, has thrived via their defense rather than offense thus far this season. They are ranked just 232nd in the country in scoring and a woeful 315th in 3pt shooting percentage. On the defensive end, however, the Cornhuskers have been much more effective. Nebraska ranks 62nd in scoring defense overall and are 119th against the 3pt shot. Nebraska sits at 198th in the country in turnovers and an impressive 43rd in the nation in rebounding.
