Nebraska-Omaha at Kansas – 11/7/22 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks will cross the border and head down to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks from Allen Fieldhouse this Monday evening.

Omaha went 5-25 (4-14) last season, and finished last in the Summit League. The Mavericks endured an abysmal season, absorbing a school-worst 25 losses last year. Omaha called upon alumni Chris Crutchfield to come in and right the ship. The former two-sport athlete has spent time at TCU, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Oregon, and he’s been well-groomed for the position.

The Mavericks naturally lost a lot from last year’s team, but they may not be all that terrible. On a bright note, the Mavs will retain leading scorer Frankie Fidler. The 6’7 forward really got things going towards the back end of Summit League play, even hanging 34 points on conference champion South Dakota State in the first round of the conference tournament. Fidler scored 12.8 ppg, and shot 42.9 percent from deep, so look for a lot from him this season. La’Mel Robinson (9.3 ppg) will likely assume point guard duties again this season, while Akol Arop should start up front alongside Fidler.
