Nebraska-Omaha at Kansas – 11/7/22 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Omaha Mavericks and Kansas Jayhawks face off on Monday to kick off the college basketball showdown at Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas will look to repeat as National Champions and that run starts here against Omaha. This Kansas team looks a lot different though with six of the top eight players gone from the team. The top player back is Jalen Wilson and he averaged 11.1 points per game. He did struggle from deep, and he needs to improve here. Kevin McCullar transferred in from Texas Tech and he will be a do it all for this team. Freshman Gradey Dick should be a one-and-down but he has already been impressive. In the exhibition game, he hit 7 of his 9 shots including 3 of 5 from behind the three-point line. Kansas head coach Bill Self is suspended for this game. This should be an easy tune up for Kansas, and a good chance for the young guys to get comfortable with the college game.

On the other side of this matchup is Omaha and they have a new head coach for the first time since 2006. Chris Crutchfield was hired after being an assistant from Oregon. There are a ton of question marks surrounding this Mavericks team, but they do have one player that looks to be a budding star. Frankie Fidler finished last year strong and is now only a Sophomore. The chatter around Akol Arop is that he is a better shooter and that should help this team stretch the floor. JJ White has transferred in from Colby Community College, and he’s expected to be a key player this season.
