North Carolina A&T (12-16 SU, 12-13 ATS, 7-8 CAA) travels up to Towson to take on the Tigers (18-10 SU, 13-15 ATS, 10-5 CAA) on Saturday afternoon at 4pmET.
These teams met on Jan. 19 with the Tigers winning 79-67 as a 6.5-point road favorite.
North Carolina A&T has not played since Monday when they fell at Monmouth 85-71. They've now lost four of their last five games after winning four of five. At 7-8, they aren't having a bad season in their first year in the CAA. They have a long shot at the 5th seed, with two home games left against Delaware and Hampton. They'd have to beat Towson and get help from Drexel and Towson's opponents. Either way, finishing .500 and in sixth place would be a successful campaign for the Aggies.
On Monday, the Aggies lost at Monmouth, 85-71 to fall to 4-9 on the road. Guard Kam Woods led the Aggies with 24 points in 40 minutes, but also had six turnovers. Duncan Powell contributed 17 points and eight rebounds. North Carolina A&T shot just 40% from the field and 29% (6-of-21) from long range. They also committed 14 turnovers and allowed the Hawks to shoot 51% from the field (6-15 3pt).
Woods, a Troy transfer, leads the Aggies with 17.7 points and 3.4 assists on 38.6% shooting (34.8% 3pt). Marcus Watson added 14.4 points and 4.9 rebounds and 43.1% from the field (26.7% 3pt).
The Aggies are shooting 42.5% from the field (8th in the CAA) and allowing teams to shoot 43.9% (8th). They shoot 33.1% from long range (7th) and hold teams to just 32.7% (4th) from long range. NC A&T struggles on the boards, ranking 11th in rebounding margin (-3.79). They also rank 3rd in three-pointers made per game at 8.14.
