NBA Player Props Predictions 1: Kyle Kuzma, Wizards Over 24.5 Points (-115) DK
Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has averaged 22.6 points per game on 46.3% shooting from the field through the first 36 games of the 2023-24 campaign.
Kuzma has actually fallen well short of this point total in three of his last four games with 22, 27, 9 and 16 points.
However, to of those games were against the Cleveland Cavaliers (who allow the 10th least points to PFs) and he scored 22 against an Oklahoma City Thunder defense that ranks 7th in defensive rating.
Now he has the opportunity to feast on a Pacers defense that ranks 2nd to last in defensive rating while allowing the MOST points to opposing power forwards (28.88/game).
Even if you consider Kuzma to be a small forward, the Pacers allow the 3rd MOST points to that position with 23.21 per game. Kuzma has also cleared this mark in each of his last three games against Indiana with 31, 26 and 27 points.
Recently we have seen Jaren Jackson Jr score 21 points against the Pacers, Banchero 34 points, Randle 28 points, Tatum 38 points, Giannis put up 30 and 26 despite consistently being double teamed.
Tyrese Haliburton is also out for Indiana and with a spread of only 7.5 there is less chance of a blowout. This makes for a great spot to back Kuzma in a bounce back game tonight in Indiana.
NBA Player Props Predictions 2: Scottie Barnes, Raptors Under 13.5 Rebounds + Assists (-140) DK
Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes is averaging 8.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists for an average of 15.3 Rebounds + Assists per game.
However, his role has changed a bit since the Raptors acquired RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley and he’s fallen short of this RA in all six games since the trade with 9, 5, 10, 10, 11 and 11.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been playing strong defensively and they rank 9th in defensive rating while playing at the leagues 5th slowest pace.
More importantly, they allow the Clippers allow the 6th least assists (3.38/game) and 10th least rebounds (7.86/game) to opposing small forwards. It was last season, but the Clips held Barnes to only 9 RA in their last head-to-head meeting.
The Raptors are also coming off a demoralizing one-point loss to the Lakers last night. Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic went on a tirade after the game, complaining about the Lakers getting 23 free throws in the 4th quarter alone.
Rajakovic called Barnes the NBAs future and you have to think that Barnes will look to score a bit more than usual tonight.
Regardless this is tough matchup and Barnes has yet to clear this total since the trade and while this isn’t a true back-to-back as the Raps are playing in the same building, I’m backing the under RA on Barnes again tonight.
