The Nashville Predators face the Pittsburgh Penguins with both teams looking to improve in the playoff picture in the final few games of the season. The Predators have a 37-28-8 record and are only a few points out of the final wild card spot in the Western Conference. The Penguins have a 36-28-10 record and are holding on to the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Both teams look to secure playoff spots and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Predators are within striking distance of a playoff spot but hope their offense can improve, scoring only 2.75 goals per game with only eight goals in the last four games. Matt Duchene, Cody Glass, and Thomas Novak have scored 48 goals and 78 assists while Roman Josi is adding 18 goals and 41 assists from the point but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only seven skaters have 10 goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has stepped up, allowing only 2.95 goals per game. Roman Josi and Ryan McDonagh have combined 8.7 defensive point shares and 384 blocked shots while Dante Fabbro, Jeremy Lauzon, and Alexandre Carrier have combined for 6.6 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Juuse Saros has stepped up with a .916 save percentage and a 2.77 goals-against average 1867 shots with 23 .1 goals saved above average.
