The Nashville Predators are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Los Angeles Kings Thursday night. Nashville comes in off a 4-1 road loss to Vegas in their previous contest Monday night. Los Angeles was drubbed 5-1 on the road by Dallas in the second game of a back-to-back situation Tuesday night. Nashville had won two straight and five of their previous seven games before getting shut down on the road by Vegas in their previous game Monday night. The Predators entered Wednesday 24-19-1 on the season and stood fourth in the Central Division, 13 points behind the Jets for the top spot. They were eight back of the Stars for the final guaranteed playoff spot and held the second wild card spot in the Western Conference by two points. Nashville is 17th in the league in goals per game as they put up an average of 3.11 goals per contest this season. The Predators are 18th in goals against by allowing an average of 3.14 goals per game on the year. Nashville is 18th in the league in power play success as they cash in on 20.5% of their chances with the man advantage. The Predators are tied for 24th in penalty killing as they successfully navigate through 77.1% of their shorthanded situations this sea son.

Against Vegas, Nashville sputtered offensively and that proved to be their undoing as they took the road defeat. The Predators held an 8-5 edge in shots on goal in the opening period but trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Nashville was outshot 16-14 and outscored 2-1 to trail 3-1 at the second intermission. After giving up a goal early in the period to trail 2-0, Luke Evangelista got the Predators on the board with his ninth goal of the season at 17:22 off assists from Alexandre Carrier and Roman Josi. They gave up a goal in the final minute of the stanza to trail by a pair again. In the third period, Nashville held a 13-8 advantage in shots on goal but gave up the lone tally of the stanza, into an empty net, to seal their loss. Juuse Saros made 25 saves for the Predators, who held a 35-29 advantage in shots on goal, in the loss. He is expected to be between the pipes again here.
