Against Pittsburgh, Nashville was unable to get their offense going and it proved to be their undoing. The Predators fired plenty of shots on goal in the opening period, holding a 17-9 advantage in that category, but skated to the dressing room with the game scoreless after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Nashville was outshot by a 17-5 margin with neither team scoring again, keeping the game 0-0 at the second intermission. The third period saw the Predators outshot by an 8-3 margin and they were outscored 3-1 to take the loss. Mark Jankowski opened the scoring and gave Nashville a 1-0 lead with his fifth of the year, unassisted, at 7:01 of the period. The Predators gave up the game’s final three goals, including the go-ahead goal with 1:39 remaining in regulation, to take the defeat. Juuse Saros made 31 saves for Nashville, who was outshot 34-25, in the loss. He is expected to be between the pipes again for this contest.
