The Nashville Predators face the Chicago Blackhawks with both teams looking to improve from difficult seasons. The Predators have a 13-13-4 record and are near the bottom of the Central Division while the Blackhawks have a 7-19-4 record and with a seven-game losing streak have fallen into last place in the Central Division. Both teams are looking to rebound in the division and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Predators are having a rough season with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.47 goals per game with only 13 goals in the last seven games. Filip Forsberg, Matt Duchene, and Mikael Granlund have scored 21 goals and 48 assists while defenseman Roman Josi has added six goals and 17 assists from the point but the rest of the offense has been awful. Only five skaters have scored five goals or more while only five skaters have added eight assists or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has let the Predators down but the defense has also struggled, allowing 3.07 goals per game. Roman Josi and Mattias Ekholm have combined for 3.2 defensive point shares and 109 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and find open shots on the net. The bright spot has been the play of goalte nder Juuse Saros who has a .911 save percentage and a 2.84 goals-against average on 720 shots.
