The Nashville Predators and Columbus Blue Jackets face off on Thursday in an NHL showdown at Nationwide Arena. When these two teams faced off on December 30th it was Columbus that secured the 4-3 victory.
The Blue Jackets come into this game with a 1-3 record overall but the one win did come in their last game against the Vancouver Canucks. At the end of the first period, the Blue Jackets were down 2-0, but they made the comeback and were able to win 4-3. There were five different players that finished with two points. Johnny Gaudreau had one goal, one assist, and three shots on goal. The Blue Jackets are averaging 2.25 goals per game while they are giving up 4.25 goals per game. The offense is ranked 30th in the league while the defense is ranked 28th.
On the other side of this matchup is the Predators who sit with a 2-2-1 record overall but they are coming off a loss in the last game. They were competitive against the Los Angeles Kings, but they gave up two goals in the third period to even force the overtime. The Predators ended up losing in a shootout. Nashville is averaging 2.4 goals per game while their defense is giving up 3.0 goals per game. Mikael Granlund has been the top player for the Predators this season and he currently has five assists.
