New York Rangers (2-2-0) vs. Seattle Kraken (1-3-1)

The 2023-24 NHL season goes on Saturday, October 21, with the New York Rangers taking on the Seattle Kraken in the interconference showdown at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, with the puck drop at 10:00 PM ET.

New York and Seattle start their two-game regular-season set. The Rangers, who have won three of their four encounters with the Kraken, open as slight -120 moneyline favorites.

The New York Rangers closed down a two-game homestand last Thursday. After a 2-1 victory to the Arizona Coyotes, the Rangers lost to the Nashville Predators 4-1. New York played poorly against the Predators, who had a 4-0 lead midway through the second period, and the Rangers took just 24 shots toward Juuse Saros.

Back in Week 1, the Rangers split a two-game road set. They beat the Buffalo Sabres 5-1 while losing at the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3. The Rangers are 4-for-14 with the man advantage, but they’ve yielded four goals on 13 power-play opportunities. Chris Kreider leads the way for the Rangers with four goals and one assist, while Mika Zibanejad is still looking for his first goal in 2023-24.

Igor Shesterkin a llowed four goals on 18 shots against Nashville before being replaced by Jonathan Quick in the second period. Shesterkin is now 2-2-0 with an ugly 3.14 GAA and a .879 save percentage this season. If the Rangers decide to give Shesterkin a day off, Quick will guard the cage against Seattle.
