New York snapped a two-game slide as they managed to take down Anaheim on the road in their previous contest Sunday night. The Rangers entered Monday 29-15-2 on the year and held a four-point lead over the Flyers for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division. New York entered Monday tied for 12th in the league with an average of 3.34 goals per game. The Rangers are eighth by allowing 2.75 goals per game this season. New York is first when it comes to success with the man advantage as they have converted 31.1% of their power play opportunities this season. The Rangers are tied for 4th in the league by successfully navigating 85.7% of their shorthanded situations on the season.

Against Anaheim, New York had their issues early but turned it on late to put the game in the win column Sunday night. The Rangers held a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal in the opening period but they trail ed 2-0 on the scoreboard at the first intermission. In the second period, New York held an 11-5 advantage in shots and scored the lone goal of the stanza to cut the margin to 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. Vincent Trocheck got the Rangers on the board with his 15th goal of the season, on the power play, at 17:58 off assists from Chris Kreider and Adam Fox. The third period saw New York hold a 15-8 edge in shots on goal and they outscored Anaheim 4-0 to earn the victory. Will Cuylle tied the game with his eighth goal of the season at 10:10 off assists from Jacob Trouba and K’Andre Miller. Artemi Panarin gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead with his 28th goal of the season, on the power play, at 14:23 off assists from Fox and Kreider. Kreider made it a 4-2 game with his 22nd goal of the year at 16:07 off an assist from Mika Zibanejad. Jimmy Vesey closed the scoring with his ninth goal of the season, into an empty net, at 19:24 with an unassisted marker. I gor Shesterkin made 16 saves for the Rangers, who held a 33-18 advantage in shots on goal, in the win. He’s expected to be between the pipes again here.
