N.Y. Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-1-2023

The New York Rangers face the New Jersey Devils in Game Seven of the First Round in what has been a back-and-forth, exciting series. The Rangers won the first two games and bounced back on their home ice in Game Six to force a winner-take-all game. The Devils won three games in a row but stumbled in Game Six and hope to still take the series with the final game on their home ice. The winner of Game Seven will advance to the Second Round and face the Carolina Hurricanes and the upcoming game should be a great one.

The Rangers have battled back in this series to force Game Seven despite their offense struggling, scoring only 17 goals in the series. Chris Kreider and Patrick Kane have scored seven goals and eight assists while defenseman Adam Fox has added eight from the blue line but the rest of the offense has struggled. The hope is that Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck can step up in Game Seven as they scored 51 goals and 105 assists this season but only have one goal and two assists in this series.

The offense has struggled but the defense has kept the Rangers in this series, allowing only 13 goals in the series with only two goals in Game Six. Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren have led the top pairing while Jacob Trouba, K'Andre Miller, and the rest of the unit have also stepped up, creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shooting lanes. Additionally, goaltender Igor Shesterkin has stepped up in the net, saving 169 of the 180 shots he's faced.
