The offense has struggled but the defense has stepped up, allowing only 2.70 goals per game. Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren have combined for 5.3 defensive point shares and 111 blocked shots while Braden Schneider, K'Andre Miller, and Jacob Trouba have combined for 5.4 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Moreover, goaltender Igor Shesterkin is having a remarkable season with a .918 save percentage and a 2.41 goals-against average on 830 shots.
