The New York Rangers face the Florida Panthers with both teams looking to improve upon promising starts to the season. The Rangers have a 19-12-6 record and with seven wins in their last 10 games, they have leaped into the middle of the Metropolitan Division. The Panthers have a 16-17-4 record but with only three wins in their last 10 games, they have fallen to the bottom of the Atlantic Division. Both teams are looking to improve in their divisions and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Rangers have been playing great offense this entire season, scoring 3.14 goals per game but the unit has recently fallen apart, scoring only one goal in the last two games. Mika Zibanejad, Artemi Panarin, and Vincent Trocheck have combined for 37 goals and 71 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. The hope is that Kaapo Kakko and Jimmy Vesey can step up as they play a pivotal role in the forward unit but have only scored 15 goals and 12 assists this season.

The offense has struggled but the defense has stepped up, allowing only 2.70 goals per game. Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren have combined for 5.3 defensive point shares and 111 blocked shots while Braden Schneider, K'Andre Miller, and Jacob Trouba have combined for 5.4 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. Moreover, goaltender Igor Shesterkin is having a remarkable season with a .918 save percentage and a 2.41 goals-against average on 830 shots.
