The Islanders are having a rough season with their offense letting them down, scoring only 2.93 goals per game. Mathew Barzal, Bo Horvat, and Anders Lee have scored 48 goals and 73 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only six skaters have seven goals or more and opponents can limit the top-heavy offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has unraveled, allowing 3.34 goals per game including nine goals in the last two games. Noah Dobson and Alexander Romanov have combined for 6.0 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. The one bright spot is the play of goaltender Ilya Sorokin as he has a .910 save percentage and a 3.18 goals-against average on 1109 shots with 6.8 goals saved above average.
