The New York Islanders have been sluggish in recent games with four losses in their last six games. Not helping matters for the Islanders is the fact that they have been facing streaking teams as of late. They will be facing a Bruins team that has streaked to a 14-0-1 mark at home this year. In their last outing, they faced a streaking Carolina Hurricanes team that improved to 5-0-1 in their last six games following a 3-0 win over New York on Saturday night. Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin had 28 saves but it wasn't enough as the Islanders offense never got on track.

The Islanders are in the middle of the pack in scoring, 15th in the league in goals per game. They are 11th in shots per game but just 20th in shot percentage. On special teams, the Islanders are 15th on the power play but a more impressive 7th in penalty killing. The Islanders are also 7th in goals against, which will be critical against the high scoring Bruins.
