We’ve got a nonconference battle on the hardwood when a member of the Missouri Valley Conference travels to face one from Conference USA in the Volunteer State. The Murray State Racers are on the road as they make the relatively short trip to face the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Wednesday night. Murray State comes in off a 68-60 home win in their previous contest Friday night, failing to cover as an 8.5-point favorite. Middle Tennessee was beaten 82-73 by Chattanooga at home Thursday night in their most recent game, losing outright as a five-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, the Racers own a 70-34 advantage, including a 93-87 victory at home on December 4, 2021.

Murray State won their second straight game as they knocked off Austin Peay at home in their previous contest. The Racers improved to 7-4 on the season overall and stand 2-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Against Austin Peay, Murray State led by five early, trailed by eight midway through the first half and cut the deficit to two at the half. The Racers used a 15-3 run to start the second half to take a 42-32 lead only to find themselves down 60-58 with 3:36 remaining. Murray State regrouped, closing the game on a 10-0 run to earn the victory. The Racers shot 46.6% from the field, including four of 14 from three-point range, and forced 15 Austin Peay turnovers in the game. Quincy Anderson led Murray State with 16 points in the win.

The Racers are an average offensive unit as they come into this contest averaging 72.5 points per game this season, putting them 181st in the nation in sco ring offense. Murray State pulls down 38.6 rebounds per contest while handing out an average of 12.9 assists a night. The Racers are average defensively, ranking 186th in scoring defense by allowing an average of 68.5 points a night. Rob Perry leads the team and is one of three players averaging in double figures with 15.2 points plus 4.5 rebounds per game this season.
