Mount St. Mary's at Canisius – 1/2/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers and Canisius Golden Griffins face off on Monday in a college basketball showdown at the Gallagher Center. This is the first meeting played between the two teams in recent history. 

Mount St. Mary’s comes into this game with a 5-9 record overall and they have gone 6-7 against the spread. On Saturday the offense was a big issue putting up 55 points and that led to the 12 point defeat. Two games ago against Howard they were defeated 63-62. The Mountaineers are averaging 64.1 points while their defense is giving up 65.4 points per game. The defense has been fine, but the offense is ranked 340th in college basketball. Jalen Benjamin is having a big season averaging 14.7 points while shooting 37.8 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from behind the three point line. 

Canisius comes into this game with a 2-10 record and they have gone 5-6 against the spread. On Saturday against Rider they were competitive but ended up losing 66-64. Jordan Henderson put up 17 points and six rebounds. Canisius is averaging 72.2 points while their defense is giving up 77.3 points per game. The defense has been awful this season and is currently ranked 342nd in college basketball. In this game the defense needs to find a way to get going.  Guard Jordan Henderson is having a strong season averaging 13.8 points while shooting 39.7 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from behind the three point line.
