Montreal Canadiens (12-11-1) vs. Seattle Kraken (15-6-3)

The Montreal Canadiens wrap up their four-game road trip Tuesday, December 6, 2022, when they face off against the Seattle Kraken in the cross-conference showdown at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, with the puck drop at 10:00 PM ET.

Montreal and Seattle lock horns for the first time this season, and the Kraken aim for their third straight victory over the Canadiens. Last season, Seattle beat Montreal 5-1 as a -130 home fave and 4-3 in a shootout as a +105 road underdog.

The Montreal Canadiens will take on the Kraken on the second night of a back-to-back set. Monday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the Canadiens visited the Vancouver Canucks, hoping to bounce back from a 5-3 defeat at the Edmonton Oilers. Last Thursday, the Habs started a four-game journey with a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames, but two days later, they failed to cope with the Oilers’ prolific offense.

Montreal outshot Edmonton 33-22, but the lack of discipline cost the Canadiens dearly. They notched a thumping 23 penalty minutes and gave up three power-play goals. The Canadiens went 2-for-3 with the man advantage, while Jake Allen yielded five goals on 22 shots.

“You want to stay more disciplined than we were,” Montreal center Ni ck Suzuki said. “You can’t take penalties when you are down and give those guys five-on-three and so much time and space.”

Jake Allen is now 7-9-0 with a poor 3.51 GAA and .893 save percentage. Sam Montembeault (5-2-1; 2.48 GAA; .924 SV%) was confirmed for Monday’s battle against Vancouver, so Allen could get another starting call Tuesday even though he’s 1-3-0 in his last four starts. The Canadiens rank 23rd in the league in goals against (3.46) and 26th in goals for (2.79). They own the fourth-worst power-play percentage in the NHL (13-for-73).
