After falling behind, Montréal responded with two quick goals in the second period to jump out to a one-goal advantage. However, Ottawa scored the final four goals of the game. Nick Suzuki scored his 20th goal of the season, the second on the club. The Canadiens are 29th on the power-play (16.8%) and 27th in goals per game (2.70).

Sam Montembeault stopped just 17 of 22 shots in the loss. He is now 12-12-2 with a 3.31 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage. Montembeault has allowed at least four goals in three of his last five starts, giving up a combined 20 goals in that span. Montréal is allowing 3.63 goals per game, 29th, and they are 28th in penalty killing (73.8%).
