The Montreal Canadiens face the Buffalo Sabres with both teams looking to improve on rocky starts to the season. The Canadiens have a 2-1-1 record and are coming off an impressive 3-2 win to leap to the middle of the Atlantic Division. The Sabres have a 2-3 record but won their recent game 3-1 to move only one game below .500 this season. Both teams look to improve in the Atlantic Division and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Canadiens are off to a promising start with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.25 goals per game. Cole Caufield and Sean Monahan have scored five goals and four assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Alex Newhook, Nick Suzuki, and Tanner Pearson have combined for five goals and four assists while defensemen Mike Matheson and David Savard have added three assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.50 goals per game with seven goals in the last two games. David Savard and Jordan Harris have led the top pairing but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Jake Allen has struggled with a .907 save percentage and a 3.34 goals-against average on 75 shots.
