These were 2 of the weaker teams in the Eastern Conference last season, but they've both gotten off to better starts so far this year. Detroit is coming off of a big upset win over the Minnesota Wild, while Buffalo pulled off 3 straight road wins in Canada, 2 of which were against very strong Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames teams.
Given the Sabres' superior consistency, we're giving them the edge in this matchup. Especially now that they're back at home, they can improve their' 5-3-0 start to the season. It will likely be a close game, but they've proven to pull through against far superior opponents.
