There are eight players in MLB history who have had six strikeouts in one game, with all instances occurring in extra innings. The record for strikeouts in a nine-inning game is five.

As of April 7, 2023, the most recent batter to strikeout six times in a single game was Geoff Jenkins (Milwaukee Brewers) on June 8, 2004. Ramon Urias (Baltimore Orioles) is the most recent player to have recorded five strikeouts in a nine-inning game, having done so on Aprll 1, 2023.

Reggie Jackson holds the record for most career strikeouts as a batter with 2,597. Miguel Cabrera has the most career strikeouts of all active players with 2,031, as of April 7, 2023.
