Of the new series beginning today, one is between the two first-place teams in the Central divisions, as the Milwaukee Brewers host the Minnesota Twins. And the Toronto Blue Jays look to improve a poor 11-23 record against AL East opponents and climb back into a wild card spot when visiting the Baltimore Orioles.

Tuesday's MLB prop picks
Adley Rutschman leads all Oriol es' players with 65 runs scored and a .369 on-base percentage. He has crossed the plate in four consecutive games, scoring six runs in that span. Rutschman has a great chance to score a run against Jays' southpaw Yusei Kikuchi, who has allowed a .281/.348/.606 slash line in 128 combined at-bats to current Orioles hitters.
This is a five-star play, as Rutschman is 5-for-14 with two home runs, a .500 wOBA, and a 1.286 OPS against Kikuchi. He is also protected by players like Jorge Mateo and Ryan Mountcastle, who are a combined 13-for-27 with seven extra-base hits against the lefty.
DraftKings is one of the lone sportsbooks offering plus-money odds for this wager, as FanDuel is as high as -115.
The New York Mets may have been big sellers at the trade deadline, but their offense has been on fire of late, scoring an MLB-best 63 runs over the last nine games. Pete Alonso has been a run-producing machine for the Mets all season, as his 95 RBIs rank second in the league. But he has been on a tear lately, with at least one RBI in five of the last six games. And over the previous nine games, Alonso has overcome a 30% strikeout rate with the league's 26th-best slugging percentage (.657).
This is only a three-star play, as Alonso is batting just .200 against the Atlanta Braves this season, but he has one home run in four at-bats against Bryce Elder, and Elder has allowed five-plus earned runs in four of his previous seven starts.
The +150 odds at bet365 seem like a steal, as Alonso is as low as +110 at FanDuel to drive in a run.
Brewers' southpaw Wade Miley is not known as a strikeout pitcher, as he has averaged just six strikeouts per nine innings this year, which is on pace to decline for the fifth consecutive season. However, his 7.3 K/9 rate in August is his second-best of any month. And he has also averaged 9.1 strikeouts per nine innings in his career against the Twins, his highest against any opponent.
The Twins strike out at a higher clip than any team in the league (27.2%), and they have an even higher 28.1% strikeout rate over the last 30 days. While Minnesota strikes out at a slightly lower 25.6% rate against left-handed pitchers, that is still the third-worst mark in the league, and we trust in Miley tonight, who has not lost in five appearances (four starts) against the Twins.
Bettors have their choice between DraftKings and bet365 for the best odds, as the Over 4.5 is +108 and +111 at FanDuel and Caesars, respectively.
Tuesday's MLB game picks
Given that the New York Yankees enter this game on a season-high eight-game losing streak, there is not enough separating them from the Washington Nationals to warrant being as high as -196 moneyline favorites at FanDuel. New York is just 17-17 in interleague matchups, while Washington is over .500 (18-17) in such games and is only 3.5 games worse than the Yankees.
Washington has the second-best winning percentage in the National League since the trade deadline (.667) and faces Yankees' southpaw Carlos Rodon, who is making his first start since coming off the IL with a hamstring strain. Rodon has allowed a whopping eight home runs in his first 27 innings wearing the pinstripes, and we expect the Nationals to put plenty of balls in play, as they have the fourth-lowest strikeout rate of any team in August (18.9%). Rodon will likely have a short leash tonight, which will put pressure on a Yankees' bullpen that entered Monday with the most innings pitched in MLB in August (83 ? innings).
