As of April 20, Shohei Ohtani is leading the AL MVP odds at +135, with Mike Trout (+700) and Aaron Judge (+1000) not too far behind him. In the NL, Ronald Acuna Jr. is leading MVP odds at +350, with Pete Alonso (+800) and Trea Turner (+1100) rounding out the top three picks.

He may seem a controversial choice for the number one spot, but Chapman has had one hell of a start to the season. Currently slashing .397/.461/.750 with five homers, the Blue Jays third baseman is leading the majors in OPS (1.211) and hard-hit rate (33 balls over 95 mph). Admittedly, it’s fair to question if Chapman will be able to maintain this high level of offense, or if it’s just an incredibly lucky start. In 2022, he ended the regular season with a batting average of .229 and an OPS of .757, which isn’t bad, but only time will tell if these new league-leading stats are here to stay.
Arraez was the American League batting champ last season with the Twins, and now that he’s signed with the Marlins, there’s absolutely no sign of the second baseman slowing down. After 18 games, Arraez is leading the league in batting average (.438) and ranks fourth in hits (28). As if that’s not enough, he recently became the first player in Marlins franchise history to hit for the cycle, which is a pretty dramatic way to record your first home run of the season.
