MLB Player Props for Tuesday – Bichette, Freeman Headline Picks With Rookie Right-Hander
MLB Player Props for Tuesday – Bichette, Freeman Headline Picks With Rookie Right-Handeriv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

One of the best ways to find value in Major League Baseball games is to attack the player props markets. Read on for our favorite MLB player props for Tuesday based on the best MLB odds.

Following a brief hiatus that was definitely not at all due to getting repeatedly burned by the stolen base market, we're back with some MLB player props. One of my biggest takeaways from betting stolen bases for the first few weeks of the MLB season is that the variance involved in a market like that isn't always properly baked into the price, even when it appears to be.

Therefore, we're targeting props that involve fewer moving parts. We'll focus on total bases and strikeouts, with some occasional looks at the home runs and stolen bases markets, too.

Here are our top MLB player props for Tuesday (odds via our best MLB betting sites; pick c onfidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Tuesday's MLB player props

  • Batter prop: Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases (+115 via DraftKings) ???
  • Batter prop: Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 total bases (+105 via DraftKings) ???
  • Pitcher prop: Louie Varland Over 4.5 strikeouts (-125 via bet365) ????

Tuesday's MLB player prop picks

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has been one of baseball's hottest hitters to begin the season. He ranks sixth among qualified batters with a .329 average, and his 49 hits pace the league.

Bichette's price for Over 1.5 total bases doesn't vary much across our best MLB betting sites. BetMGM matches DraftKings' +115 number, Caesars is close with a +111, and FanDuel is the low book at +105. Ballpark Pal prices this prop at -102, giving us some nice value with the offering from DraftKings and BetMGM.

According to NumberFire, Bichette is projected to record the third-highest batting average on Tuesday at .324. He also enters action with one of the highest projected totals for singles, and he has competitive projections in terms of potential doubles and home runs.

Similar to Bichette, Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has been a hitting machine to begin the campaign. His 42 hits are tied for ninth in baseball, and only eight players have more doubles.

BallPark Pal prices this prop at -109, giving Freeman the shortest odds to record two-plus total bases, according to its projection model. Unlike Bichette, though, Freeman's price varies quite greatly across our best sportsbooks. FanDuel lists this prop at the low end with a -120 price, while Caesars is between the two numbers at -105. As was the case with the previous entry, BetMGM matches DraftKings' +105 number.

Freeman owns the second-highest projected doubles total on Tuesday, as well as the sixth-highest home runs projection. I don't mind a half-unit bet on him to hit a home run on Tuesday, as Ballpark Pal prices the prop at +285 while you can bet on a Freeman long ball at odds as long as +500 at theScore Bet.

Minnesota Twins rookie right-hander Louie Varland has thus far been a strikeout machine in the early stages of his MLB career. It's a small sample size, but his 14 punchouts over 10 2/3 innings make for an elite K/9 rate of 11.81, and his 29.8 strikeout percentage and 35.3 called + swinging strike percenta ge are also extremely impressive.

Ballpark Pal prices this prop at an absurdly short -246. Of our best sports betting sites, Caesars has the shortest price at -146, while BetMGM (-133), FanDuel (-134), PointsBet (-135), and DraftKings (-135) all hover around this number.

I don't hate playing Varland's strikeout total up to Over 5.5, which Ballpark Pal prices at -120. FanDuel offers an alternative total of six-plus at +164. However, that would be a three-star bet.

I prefer playing Over 4.5 due to Varland's projected strikeout total of 4.59 at NumberFire, as well as the fact that we're getting better value when comparing it to Ballpark Pal's price.
