The day begins with an AL West showdown between the World Series odds-contender Texas Rangers and the surprising Oakland Athletics, who sit just three games out of the division lead. First pitch from Oakland is scheduled for 3:37 p.m. ET.

Arizona Diamondbacks' ace Zac Gallen finds himself in a familiar position this season as an MLB Cy Young odds contender. Gallen owns a 3.38 ERA and is striking out 9.84 batters per nine innings, a slight uptick from last year's mark. However, he hasn't pitched since April 26 due to a hamstring injury, so he may be somewhat limited in Tuesday's start.
The Cincinnati Reds could certainly add to Gallen's woes if they wake up from their slumber. The Reds have scored just eight runs in their last five games, losing three straight at home to the Baltimore Orioles and crossing the plate just twice.

The Pittsburgh Pirates present an interesting matchup for Sandoval, as they strike out at the eighth-highest rate in the majors but also walk at the third-highest rate.
